November was a good month for those looking to make donations in bitcoin as a number of charitable organizations began accepting the digital currency. Interestingly, law firms are also warming to the idea of accepting bitcoin. 

Bitcoin Charitable Donations

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross has partnered with BitPay to allow people to make donations to Red Cross disaster relief with bitcoin.

Save the Children

Save the Children has likewise partnered with BitPay to allow people around the world to donate to its fund using bitcoin.

Mozilla Foundation

The Mozilla Foundation is now accepting bitcoin donations through Coinbase. The donations to the non-profit will go towards supporting internet privacy and open technology.  

Ferguson Public Library

Amid the protests and unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, the Ferguson Public Library has remained open, offering services to residents in need. After members of the bitcoin community voiced their support, the library linked up with BitPay to accept bitcoin donations.

Finnish Political Party

As it gears up for the 2015 general election, the Pirate Party of Finland has started accepting bitcoin donations. They have already raised a fair amount of funds in bitcoin.

Law Firms

Katz Law Firm

A law firm in the greater Detroit, Michigan area will soon begin accepting payment for legal services in bitcoin. Katz Law Firm, which specializes in tax law, joins Marsalese Law Group in Michigan, in accepting the digital currency.

Thomson Wilks

Thomson Wilks has become the first law firm in South Africa to accept payment via bitcoin. Transaction will be processed through bitcoin investment company Voomar.

Quintain Marketing

Quintain Marketing in Annapolis, Maryland, recently became one of the first marketing agencies in the United States to accept bitcoin for its marketing and web design services.

US Dataworks

Treasury management company US Dataworks has partnered with Coinbase, and is currently able to accept bitcoin payments into its integrated receivables platform.

Scanning the Globe...

Dutch Supermarket

The Dutch city of Arnhem already has upward of forty merchants that accept bitcoin. Add local supermarket franchise Spar to the list as they recently became the first supermarket chain to accept bitcoin in the Netherlands.

Malaysian Taxi App

TaxiMonger, a Malaysian cab booking app used by around 1,400 taxi drivers, recently added a bitcoin payment option. The company claims it is the first taxi app in Asia to offer this payment option.

Mediterranean Villa

A fully furnished seven-bedroom, five-bathroom villa on the Mediterranean coast in Israel is up for sale and the seller is only willing to accept bitcoin. The price tag on the villa is around $3 million or roughly 9,000 bitcoin.

NBDL Basketball Team

The NBA’s Golden State Warriors’ Developmental League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, announced that they have partnered with PayStand to allow fans to purchase game tickets with bitcoin. PayStand will also sponsor the team’s jerseys this season.
